  • Sustainability – applications of synthetic biology e.g. creating cells that produce biofuels or even cells that can break down environmental pollution, creating more sustainable materials

Transformation is the process of inserting a piece of DNA (a gene) into a single cell of an organism to create a transgenic organism.

 

There are a number of ways to genetically modify an organism. This publication is part one of a two-part series detailing the transformation processes to genetically modify plants. This issue focuses on the use of Agrobacterium.
